William M. Hang, DDS, MSD

William M. Hang, DDS, MSD graduated from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and the University of Minnesota Orthodontic program where he briefly taught orthodontics. He has been active in the specialty of orthodontics for 50 years.

Having been traditionally trained, he extracted teeth for crowding and often retracted the teeth.   For the last 40+ years, however,  he has  been a pioneer in non-retractive treatments to improve the airway in patients of all ages. Dr. Hang also became passionate about trying to prevent health problems through forward facial growth at very young ages.  He is an advocate of treatment as soon as an issue is recognized - especially in the primary dentition.

Dr. Hang’s approach to orthodontics is a result of blending the best ideas from the best practitioners.  He has spoken on orthodontics, facial esthetics and airway locally, nationally, and internationally. He was the Founding  President of the North American Association of Facial Orthotropics®,  is a board member of the American Association of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry (AAPMD), Children’s Airway First Foundation (CAFF), and The Airway Revolution Foundation (TARF).  He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry for his work.

Now retired from clinical practice, Dr. Hang founded OrthO2Health™ to teach and mentor doctors about airway healthy orthodontic treatments for all ages. His Early Childhood Health-centered Orthodontic Mentorship™ (E.C.H.O.) focuses on treatments for children approximately age 10 and under with an emphasis on treating in the primary dentition.  The Hang E.R.R.S.™ (Extraction Retraction Regret Syndrome™) Orthodontic Mentorship addresses treatments for teens and adults to optimize facial balance and airway as well as pain issues.  Reversing previous orthodontic retraction including re-opening previous bicuspid extraction spaces or missing lateral incisor spaces is a major focus as is orthodontic preparation for surgical intervention.
